Process & Pricing
There are many paths to great redesign and all projects are unique. However, to help you get a good sense of my most common process, below are descriptions of the steps we’ll take.
1. You heard, saw or read about me and think my approach might be just what you’re looking for.
You can get in touch by emailing or calling, and we’ll chat about your redesign needs. If you’d like, prior to my visit, I’ll send you a questionnaire asking the basics about your space, or we can move right on to…
2. I visit your home or work space.
I come to your home or business to take a closer look. We discuss needs, wants, possibilities, budget, and timeline in greater detail. I take pictures, notes and basic measurements. We might move some things around during this visit.
3. I present your initial redesign plan.
I prepare and present to you an overview of my redesign plan. This includes suggested layout and color scheme; what the needs of the space are and how I will address each need; estimated hours/cost of goods involved with the plan, all based on your budget and timeline.
4. We maximize your existing things by doing a restaging session.
This step doesn’t always apply, but when it does, it sure is fun and has a huge impact.
This is when we uncover new uses and placement for your existing pieces. We’ll rearrange, restage and rehang your pieces for better flow, look and function. I guarantee that during this step, we will find items that had been underutilized and others that could be updated or given a new purpose. After we’re done, there are suddenly fewer holes to fill in the overall redesign plan (which means more money can be placed toward the rest of the design, or can stay in your pocket! Happens every single time.) AND besides all that, you get a fresh new spin on your space…all before we’ve even purchased a thing…
People are constantly amazed what can be done during this step. For an example ‘before and after’ of a restaging session, click here.
5. If there’s more to do: We shop locally.
Road trip! Again, this step doesn’t always apply (some things just need to be purchased new) but if it does, we’ll go treasure hunting at the best local antique stores and consignment shops, including our new showroom, Hazel Tree Interiors. I know all the local hot spots, and there are great finds every time.
6. If there’s more to do: I propose new, repurposed or custom-made elements.
After we’ve addressed as many needs as we can with existing pieces, there may still be pieces needed to complete the redesign plan. I’ll propose the look and pricing of all remaining elements with a final presentation. This is when you will see all remaining items and the entire redesign plan. You’ll see things like fabric, wallpaper or carpet samples; images of cabinet and drapery hardware; lighting; finishes for proposed furniture; detailed drawings of custom pieces; etc. If any adjustments are needed, I’ll make them quickly so we can keep your project moving.
7. You are one happy customer!
I work hard to make sure your redesign is implemented in the most professional, unobtrusive, efficient and enjoyable way. The sooner you are living or working comfortably in your newly redesigned space, the better!
Now…all that being said, many people simply hire me for a few hours to freshen up their decor through a restaging and that’s all they really need. Whatever works for you, I’m here and happy to help.
